Digital Competence Development
Digital competence is an essential skill in today’s world. It involves the effective use of IT tools, software, and digital content. Importantly, it goes beyond technical knowledge and also includes the ability to interpret information, think critically, and solve problems.
Individuals with a higher level of digital competence are better equipped to navigate today’s society,
as they are able to navigate the online environment effectively, find the information they need, and communicate and collaborate with others using digital tools. They are also better able to learn and apply new technologies quickly and effectively.
How Can Digital Competence Be Developed?
Digital competence can be developed in many ways. First, it is important to acquire basic IT skills, such as using operating systems and software, applying effective online search techniques, and understanding the fundamentals of data protection. The next step is to develop critical thinking and information-processing skills, enabling individuals to evaluate and filter information found online.
DigComp 2.2 Digital Competence Framework
Practice and self-directed learning are key to developing digital competence. The DigComp 2.2 Digital Competence Framework for Citizens, developed by the European Union, defines the key elements of digital competence.
DigComp 2.2 defines a total of 5 key competence areas:
Information and Data Literacy
Communication and Collaboration
Digital Content Creation
Safety
Problem Solving
The framework further divides these 5 areas into a total of 21 individual competences, including managing data, information, and digital content, participating in society through digital technologies, and developing digital content. The competences are assessed across 8 proficiency levels, ranging from foundation to highly specialized levels.
DigComp 2.2 is particularly important because it provides a common framework for developing and assessing digital skills across the European Union, helping European citizens improve their digital preparedness and promoting equal opportunities in the digital environment.
The framework is a widely accepted reference that supports educational institutions, employers, and governments in developing and assessing digital skills.

Beyond digitalizing our clients’ training programs, we also consider it our mission to provide further training for individual citizens, especially those in need.
At our online academy, we provide a wide range of free training courses, mainly in digital competence and soft skills development, in line with our professional focus. Over nearly the past two decades, several thousand learners have taken part in our e-learning courses, including disadvantaged learners, mothers with young children, and pensioners. Our courses can be completed 100% online and independently through a guided learning process. In addition to knowledge-building sections, we also use simulations to support the development of practical skills. Upon successful completion of the exam, we issue an official adult education certificate confirming completion of the training.
